This is a very nice camera. The battery life on this lasts for several hours. The picture quality is excellent. It is fairly easy to use provided you actually look at the manual. It does take crystal clear, vivid color photos. I had used the one my husband borrowed from work to take pics of our new grand baby. My photos actually came out BETTER than the ones a professional photographer was paid to take the studio!!
It is well worth the list price of around $800. If you can find a deal like I did then I would strongly advise you to grab this beauty!

Canon BP-511 camera battery is a 1600mah high capacity lithium ion battery for bp-511, bp-511a replacement. Made from reliable and durable battery cells, could provide lasting and stable power to a wide range of Canon cameras well, such as Canon EOS 5D, 10D, Kiss, Canon Powershot G1/G2/G3/G5/G6.

A spare Canon PowerShot G5 5MP Camera Canon BP-511 Battery Pack is an essential item in the Canon EOS 10D, Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel or Canon EOS D60 kit.

The Canon BP-511 Battery Pack is a Lithium-Ion battery - as maintenance-free as the current crop of digital camera batteries get. The manual simply tells you to use them and charge them as you desire.

My personal recommendation is to have at least two Canon BP-511 Battery Packs. Keep one in the camera, keep the other(s) fully charged in your bag - ready for immediate use. Giving each battery a complete discharge/charge cycle during each use cannot be bad.

The BP511 is a Li-ion battery pack. The good thing about Li-ion batteries is that they don't suffer from the "memory effect" that NiCad and NiMH tend to. This means you can charge them whenever you want regardless of whether they are half full or completely empty. It's still not good practise to overcharge though. Li-ion batteries also generally offer longer life than other types of battery, and are less weighty as a bonus. Typically though, they tend to me more pricey - so certainly horses for courses.

Canon BP-511 specification:
Chemistry LI-ION
Voltage 7.4V(Compatible with 7.2V)
Capacity 1600mAh
Dimension 55.10x38.20x21.00mm

I purchased this camera for $45.99 for my daughter’s 3rd birthday after reading and experiencing several horror stories about “kid’s” cameras.

It totally fits the bill. The batteries last, the review setting allows my daughter to navigate through her pictures she has taken (did I mention she is three?), and the real dealmaker is that I can upload her pictures to my Mac, which I could not do with any of the crappy software that comes with the “kid’s” models. I am also pleased to find a camera not affiliated with Disney crossmarketing.

It works well and she loves it.

I purchased this as a second camera, for times when our primary camera is being used elsewhere. I wasn’t looking for any bells and whistles, just very simple snapshots; and my expectations were low, given the amount of money I wanted to spend.

After reading the online manual and trying dozens of test shots using the limited settings, I can honestly say I didn’t get one decent photo. No shots were in good focus, distance shots with the zoom as well as close-ups were almost unidentifiable, outdoor shots were overexposed, color was inconsistent. One landscape picture I took was almost acceptable–but there’s a blue halo along the left side of the photo and a purple one on the right.

I’m returning the camera for a refund.

I ordered this item to be used as our new company camera. It has only recently arrived so I have only used it on several occasions, however, I am already impressed. The camera is easy to use and takes great pictures. I especially love to 10X optical zoom. The only negative I see thus far is the battery life.

My sister-in-law had gotten this camera a year ago and has loved it! We both have kids getting into activities and it takes great pictures! I would suggest it to anyone. It is easy to use and handle.
Great price!

I had tried to buy this phone in a store, they were always out of stock. So I tried Amazon for the 1st time. I am so pleased with both Amazon and the camera. The delivery time was short. The manual is really easy to understand and the pictures I have taken come out better than any other camera I have used. The price was good and I am very pleased I bought it.

Though I purchased this item for someone else, but I got a fair share of usage on this camera before I eventually handed it over to its owner.
The camera is an extremely good package of advanced features in a point-and-shoot model. People who are aware of manual controls, they get enough tweaks to make in this camera to satisfy their urge. A more than generous screen makes everything you are doing a pleasure on your eyes, fonts are bigger and easy to read without a squint in eye.
Though battery-life is a concern, but I understand the display and zooming takes a toll on its life, and that’s understandable. Usage of AA batteries makes it a good camera to travel with, without looking for a charging station for chargeable batteries.
Overall, a great camera, equally good for beginners as well as advanced users who would like to tinker with manual controls before joining the DSLR league.

I’ve had this camera for a year now.

Things I like: easy to move dial for settings (including video), several scenes set right on dial, auto setting works well most of the time, flash can be turned off by not putting it up (lift flash manually or leave down for no flash), zoom is clear for full range of optical zoom, takes good video, big LCD on back, timer easy to get to, face recognition works well, several manual options are easy to get to (if I can remember how to find them).

Things I don’t like: slow flash charges between photos, battery seems to run out fast (my last camera had a lithium-ion and I miss it), for other people taking a picture for me, the flash is often forgotten (b/c it has to be flipped up to use), sometimes when I push down the shutter button (half way to focus, then all the way to snap a picture), it doesn’t take – as if I didn’t focus (it’s picky about wanting you to focus before pressing the shutter all the way), manual is only partially helpful – it doesn’t always explain in full sentences how to do something – a lot of tables/charts. Although I’d like to use more manual settings, and have played around with them, I usually keep it on auto (sometimes ignoring the warning that I need a flash), and pretty much always get good pictures (even when it warns me of a possible shaky picture – it’s usually not.

Overall, it’s been a nice camera to upgrade to (my last was a kodak easyshare DX7440 – loved the lithium ion battery and no waiting for a flash to charge) . Those are my only real complaints about this one. The time between charged flashes is shorter with a well charged battery, and the pictures are good, even in low light or less than ideal conditions.
