This is my 3rd Cannon digital camera and what I can say is: It rocks!
Very good product! It takes and films with a very nice quality, it is small, the batery doesn’t run out quickly even if you are using it as recorder.
I've been using a Canon Powershot I2 IS for the full 3 years now. Very good digital camera with a great 12X zoom. However, I wanted a digital camera to carry in my pocket. So many times I just didn't feel like dragging a big camera with me to parties or events. This camera fills the bill. I now carry it everywhere.
So far this digital camera has worked great and I have had no problems. I spent a long time researching new digital cameras and I had narrowed it down to Canon or Sony. Then I chose Canon and was deciding between the SD 850 and the 1100. Those two were both in my price range and had optical viewfinders. I went with the 1100 because of it's smaller size and the color choices (I didn't want plain ol' silver).
The photos it creates are stunning. The 8 megapixels and 3X zoom produces a picture that you can crop to the point that you get almost the same image as you would have with the 5 megapixels 12X zoom lens. The film feature Canon PowerShot SD1100IS Digital 8MP Camera is great too, even greater than the I2 IS.
The camera feels wonderful in your hand with a good, superior feeling. If you have used Canon cameras earlier the menus are very intuitive. I would not have bought this camera (or any camera for that matter) if it did not have the Picture Stabilization feature. This is especially a must as you get older.
We did close-up pictures on flowers and even hair and eyelashes and it's astonishing what resolution we had with the camera and with such clearness. The camera is easy to use and is small sleek and compact. I got the one in brown color and it looks different and sophisticated without searching too overly girly or masculine. Sound quality all over the video recording was crisp and pictures were nice and vivid and not at all pixelated.
By the way there is an advantage to the Brown color: If you get to use the optical view finder outside, the camera itself makes minimal glare for you eye to see more clearly through the small opening. The color also makes the LCD playback pop. And as a bonus, it truly makes the camera a luxury look, you have to see it in person to value the color.
The camera takes great quality pictures. I haven't noticed any red eyes (thanks to built in red eye reduction) and the pictures are crystal clear. I like all the different features of the camera and shooting modes, even though I haven't had the chance to use them all yet. I would definitely recommend this camera to those who care about great quality pictures, extra features, and a compact camera with color choices.
I recently took it to a monthly card party and everyone got wild over it. So much so that one person sat right down at the computer and bought one!
If you want a sub-compact, little camera that makes great images, I highly recommend the Canon SD1100IS. Definitely a good buy and well worth the money.

would deffinatly buy it again. quality is great for the size and price. this camera has inspired me to take it to the next level and am now buying the canon dslr xsi. i will deffinatly keep this model for pictures when out with friends.
What a camera! I did a LOT of research before buying this camera for my wife and I, and I have been VERY, VERY pleased with the photos we get with it. I’ve taken several photos people can’t believe came from a pocket camera.
This is my 2nd Canon camera. First camera lens got stuck after month. Got it repaired. Broke again about a year later. Out of warranty, now its a $350 paper weight. 2nd canon camera. Lens got stuck after about 5 months. Got it fixed. Broke again about 2 months later. Now I have to send it in again. I am going on vacation in a week and will not have my camera. Had to buy a Lumix just so I could have one.
Also, in order to get it fixed you need to pay for shipping and insurance. So throw that cost in, not to mention go without a camera for 2-3 weeks. Stay away from canons.
I bought the Camera after playing with it one day While I was at work at Best Buy, I loved the fact that it was the 1st camera I have ever seen that had the Color Accent feature. At first I liked the camera but once I started taking it with me on trips and other outings I really started regretting spending my money on it. The pictures came out nice maybe 1/2 of the time, the rest of the time they were blurry. If your on auto mode it will use the anti blur feature which is good for me because I shake but any of the other modes I tried like the color accent feature one of the main reasons for buying the camera ALWAYS came out blurry. Not to mention the number one thing I couldn’t stand about this camera was that it was so slow at taking the picture. I missed so many great pictures of the kids and animals because you have to wait for this thing to focus which again it only would do half the time. I ended up selling the camera to my sister and going with a 99.00 Kodak that does everything this camera couldn’t. this was my 1st and last time buying a Canon.

This is a wonderful camera for the basic photographer! It has everything you need and so much more! The pictures are amazing quality for the price, and there is also a feature on it where the camera zooms in to the faces of the people in the picture so that you can see if they are blinking or smiling before you even take the pic! It’s a great camera for an amazing price! I HIGHLY recommend this one!!
The camera is great! My daughter loves it and it is small and portable. The camera charges with a small charger and looks great. I gave it 4 stars, not because of the camera, but because of the kit it came with. The value is pretty good considering that you get an extra battery, camera case that matches well to pink camera and other assorted stuff. However, just letting you know that the extra battery it comes with is NOT Canon. I honestly didn’t try the extra battery yet because the first one the camera comes with is still charged, but I was kind of surprised because it didn’t say it outright in the description. Soooo, good value, but ??? about the extra battery.
The camera works great. I used it at my granddaughter’s birthday and it kept up with her moving and running around. Pictures came out good and clear. It was easy to use and I don’t take pictures all that often. I took over a 120 pictures on a battery which had not been charged since before Thanksgiving. Great little camera.
