I have taken many thousands of pictures with this over the last few years and I am amazed by what a good camera this is. If your a beginner it works great with the auto setting but for more advanced users you can change everything and get the perfect shot. It always takes good shots indoors and out, still objects and fighter jets and takes them very good. Very happy with it and it won’t let you down.

Getting to Know

Fujifilm claims their S1000fd to be the most compact super zoom camera ever. Do not get deceived by the design and form in the pictures, the camera is indeed a small, light weight one when compared to other of its genre.

Looks and Design

Even though the camera has a retro design and old world looks, it still is a small and comfortable piece to hold and work with. The total weight of the camera makes it quite easy to carry around though definitely not in your pocket!

Key Features

The Fujifilm Fujifilm FinePix S5200 5.1MP Camera Finepix S1000fd gets a definite edge over others due to a powerful zoom lens, good mega pixel count and a larger than average screen. The camera also has an optical viewfinder which is rare to be seen in most of the digital cameras today.

Other Features

The camera is also loaded with regular features expected of it like various shooting modes, image stabilizer, flash, red eye reduction etc that all aid in yielding great results. The camera also features required interfaces and has easy connectivity.

Verdict

The Finepix S1000FD is a neat looking camera with an improved zoom and a number of cool functions. Features like color filter further help in deriving amazingly clear and finest quality images. I am also totally sold on the looks which have a fine balance of an old style casing and compact, light weight design. You only wish for a few more interfaces and perhaps the absence of macro mode would pinch to some.

This camera is a great next step for someone considering moving up from a simple point and shoot camera. While it still has easy automatic settings it allows you to have full manual input as well. I really liked how I can control the ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and can even focus manually (although manual focus is a bit slow.)

Pros:
-Manual controls
-video time only limited by card space
-Great zoom
-Great Macro ability
-Really good image quality, making solid prints up to 11×14
-good feel…solid…can really wrap your hands around it.
-Lots of dedicated external buttons to control exposure, ISO, and other settings…no need to hunt through lame menus for most commonly used adjustments.
-Uses easy to find AA batteries.

Con:
-not quite an SLR.
-slower manual focus (most cameras in this range don’t have manual focus at all)…auto focus is quite fast.
-Can’t slip it in your pocket.

Excelente cámara solo que los menú de enfoque digital son un tanto complicados… una camara para principiantes que deseen conocer la fotografia paso a paso y que deseen profundizar…

I have had this camera for 3 years now. I had been using a Fuji before and had been happy with it so opted to go with the same brand when I wanted an upgrade.

I dont use many of the settings…I’m just an amateur photographer. I have used the video, which works well.

The shutter was quick enough to let me get a shot of a bowler (in the game of cricket), clean bowling a batsman. Sweet!

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I would have liked it to be lighter and smaller.

The zoom works very well. A better flash would have been a good feature. But I am overall happy with my purchase, and it has gone all over the world with me.

Great zoom. Standard batteries. Easy to use. Even takes decent videos. Lots of features with some I’ll probably never use. Priced right.
