I recently purchased this camera to replace my original Z700 which lasted me through over 5 years of almost daily use. The original was my first digital camera. I purchased it through the recommendation of a friend and was never sorry. Of course, when it finally died, the cost of replacement was more reasonable than repair.

Pros:
I like the simplicily of use of this camera. – Extremely uncomplicated.
The resolution is high enough for just about everything I do.
The color balance is excellent in variable shooting situations.
Durability – What can I say? Five years of rugged use (I am NOT known for being gentle with cameras).

Cons:
As mentioned in other reviews, the 16mb card and included batteries are a joke. Kodak should have left them up to the buyer to provide and reduced the price by a dollar. I personally only use rechargeables and use a 512 or 1k SD card. However, the included batteries have lasted quite awhile in my TV remote.
The small view screen.
Large overall camera size. Can’t stick it in my pocket.

Overall however, I’d say this is one of the best cameras out there for the price. I’ve owned several other cameras (including the Z612), as well as having used numerous brands at work also, and find that I’d usually rather be shooting with this one.

After getting this camera as a gift last Xmas(2005) i was pleased with the features and picture quality. However, when attempting to use it this Xmas (2006) i was greatly upset when it would not turn on at all. It works in the docking station only and a new battery does not fix it. I had only used it about 4 times in that first year and when contactin Kodak about a obvious defect, they blew me off and said it was out of it’s one year warranty and all i could do was trade it in and buy a referbished lower end camera for about as much as i paid for this one. I am no longer a Kodak customer due to this and their response to my inquires. This is not to disuade anyone from buying this product, just know about their warranty and how they deal with them before buying.

I absolutely love this camera. My previous camera was a Minolta SLR, which I also loved, and I swore I would never “go digital”. I have three children (ages 7, 4, and 1) and I was going through at least 2 rolls of film/month… more if a special event occurred. Several photos on each roll wouldn’t turn out, of course, and sometimes (at Christmas, for example) I’d waste an entire roll in one sitting, hoping to get JUST ONE photo where all three cherubs were looking in my direction. But I loved the beauty of the prints so much, and I thought a digital camera couldn’t compare. Oh, how wrong I was! My parents got my husband & me the Kodak for Christmas, and I (sadly but truthfully) haven’t touched the Minolta since. I have just as much fun playing with this camera as I did my SLR, turning off the flash and using natural light and changing the color setting to black/white or sepia. My prints are gorgeous, and the best part is knowing what I’m getting BEFORE I visit the photo lab. I also like the rechargeable dock, even if it is a little bulky to travel with. I would recommend this camera time and time again, especially to digital “rookies” like myself!

I love this camera! I already used the Kodak easyshare software, and there were zero glitches with updating my camera and dock. The short video clips I can take turn out well too. HOWEVER, I bought this camera thinking that video clips, while shorter, would be just like a video camera stream. Nope. Once you upload, it’s clear the images aren’t as high quality. When I was created a DVD and used video from my old camcorder files (which broke, hence getting this camera) and the files from this camera, well, there’s no comparison. HOWEVER, the photos are awesome and perhaps all video files from digital cameras aren’t as good as a real camcorder. Anyway, overall VERY happy with the camera.

I went through two battery rechargers and three sets of rechargeable batteries before I came here and discovered LOTS of people are having trouble with the camera doing an auto-shut-off AS IF it’s out of batteries when actually it’s probably a battery compartment problem. I confirmed that it’s a compartment problem on mine by putting in brand-new alkalines: the camera still shut off after a few seconds.

Other than that problem (which is finally fatal in my camera, but after 2-and-a-half years of steady use), I liked the camera and recommended it to many people. It’s easy to use if what you like is a mostly automatic camera (that’s what I like—I don’t mess with the manual settings), and it has a good zoom, and I thought the picture quality was quite good considering the price of the camera.

I won’t recommend it anymore, though, now that I see the battery problem is common.

I was a little disappointed with the whole sell process. It took a long time to get my stuff because the seller didn’t have the original box. That could have been listed on the sale listing. I was sent a battery that doesn’t work. The camera works if I have it on my charging base but doesn’t work with the batteries I was sent. Now I have to find a local place to get a battery. I was just overall disappointed and wouldn’t reccomend this seller to anyone.

The printer did not work, it only printed 1/2 of the picture. I am having a real hard time with trying to get it replaced, and I had to send it back to the place that Kodak has that works on the printers, and they could not fix it. They told me they had to send it back to the manufacturer, Kodak, to get it replaced. I am still waiting on the replacement.
This is the first and last thing, I will buy on Amazon!

I seriously hate this camera. It keeps dying! Even if I charge it forever, it only lasts for 5 minutes once you turn it on. My crappy $50? camera lasts weeks before needing to be charged. The features are okay though. Sometimes the pictures come out blurry, but I like the videos you can take. Also, it’s too fat and big.
