After getting this camera as a gift last Xmas(2005) i was pleased with the features and picture quality. However, when attempting to use it this Xmas (2006) i was greatly upset when it would not turn on at all. It works in the docking station only and a new battery does not fix it. I had only used it about 4 times in that first year and when contactin Kodak about a obvious defect, they blew me off and said it was out of it’s one year warranty and all i could do was trade it in and buy a referbished lower end camera for about as much as i paid for this one. I am no longer a Kodak customer due to this and their response to my inquires. This is not to disuade anyone from buying this product, just know about their warranty and how they deal with them before buying.
The kodak EasyShare C180 is based around a ten megapixel 1/2.3" CCD imager coupled to a Kodak-branded 3x zoom lens with a 32 - 96mm equivalent focal range - a fairly standard wide angle to a moderate telephoto. As befits its budget pricing, the Kodak C180 has a 2.4-inch 115,000 dot LCD display, and there's no optical viewfinder. They're an increasingly rare option these days, but cameras with optical viewfinders add a good degree of versatility, letting you get the shot when you can't make out the LCD in bright sunlight, or save battery life by disabling the LCD when accurate framing isn't vital. It's a shame that the C180 lacks the option, but certainly understandable given the pricepoint. Kodak EASYSHARE Z740 5MP Camera Images are stored on Secure Digital / MultiMediaCards (including the newer SDHC types), or in 16MB of available internal memory.
The Kodak C180 offers a generous 16 scene modes to help beginners achieve the results they're looking for without the need to understand subtleties like shutter speeds, apertures and the like. The C180 also includes face detection, which is used to take account of your subject's faces when calculating exposure variables. Exposures are determined using multi-pattern, center-weighted or center-spot TTL metering, and 2.0EV of exposure compensation is offered in 1/3EV increments. Five white balance settings are available including an auto mode, and ISO sensitivity is controlled automatically from 80 to 240, or manually from 80 to 1250 equivalents. The EasyShare C180 also offers a movie mode, capturing 30 frames-per-second VGA (640x480) or QVGA (320x240) clips, in QuickTime Motion JPEG format - sigma.
The C180 offers a USB 2.0 connection (type unspecified), through which images and movies can be transferred to your computer. Power for the C180 comes from two AA batteries, with the company listing Oxy-Alkaline, Alkaline or Lithium disposables as compatible, as well as NiMH rechargeables - surely the better option for most uses. Kodak includes alkaline disposables in the product bundle, so be sure to factor in the cost of some rechargeables and a charger when making your purchase, unless you already have these on hand.

I have had this camera for about 2 years and really loved it until recently.
In the past few months, the battery life has gotten shorter and shorter. A trip to the mountains proved disasterous when my camera, with brand new duracell photo batteries, died after about 5 pictures.
Not a good camera for long term use.
Camera is better than I could have imagined.Delivery was fast even though I didn’t have it express delivered,I’m very happy with this purchase.
I gave this as a gift and could not have made a better choice A+
Any indoor pictures with poor lighting especially in churchs and wedding receptions come out streaky, blurry, out of focus and dark. Very disappointed in this camera. I read the manual and it states use the Sport for in Motion pictures, however, they still come out blurry. The auto setting does the same thing. This camera is great for outdoors and indoors with plenty of lighting. The 10X zoom is good when using a tripod. The camera is also good for up close pictures with a steady hand and tripod. I would have not bought this camera if I had known about these issues.
Hard to believe I spent $300 for this camera when it first came out over 4 years ago but at the time it was one of the better point and shoots out there and was a HUGE step up from the 2 MP Sony I had before, so when we first got it we were blown away by the photo quality. I have moved on finally to a Canon XSI and while my wife and I took about 3,000 photos with this camera in 4 years, the build quality was horrible (the side door for the memory card slot is a very cheap plastic and will break off with time) and we were constantly frustrated by the extremely slow auto focus and missing out on shots. Also the camera really struggles to take decent shots at night, you need to take several photos and have a tripod to avoid blurred images even on the night setting. Overall it was a dependable camera but I looking back on it, it could have been a lot better. Hopefully Kodak has made some improvements on their more recent point and shoot cameras.
