Although I did not purchase this camera from Amazon( Best Buy), I returned it after 1 day of using it. I purchased Nikon because of my previous experience years ago with a Nikon SLR, which produced great pictures.
This camera is a joke….nearly every picture I took was blurry. I purchased this for my wife for her birthday. She was extremely disappointed with it as well. When I returned it to Best Buy, the clerk told me that they have had many, many returns of this camera. I then purchased a Kodak camera (m340), and we could not be more pleased with the quality of the pics and the ease of use…..no more Nikon for me.

The rate differences frequently comprise to carry out with megapixels and the size of the LCD present screen.
One of the favourite skin sought in every novel camera is its zoom quality. Being able to direct from a distance can be a utter lead. This is a very beutiful & attractive camera it is easy to use and has a reasonable level of features but as far as its original purpose it is terrible, the picture quality is TERRIBLE!!! Do not buy this camera unless you like low quality pics or are blind. Also NIKKON tech support as far as rectifying the very low quality picture issues will not work with you. All I have to say is stay away.
I love it. I’ve had a Nikon Coolpix before and I love this one even more. The pictures are crisp. Menu’s are easy to follow, and the available colors are an added bonus. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend!!
I haven’t seen picture quality this bad in years. Pictures are grainy, splotchy and over-processed. It makes people’s hair look like blotches of melted wax. While it claims 10 megapixels, the actual resolution is closer to a 1 megapixel cell phone. There are so many better choices than this camera…for example the Canon SD1200IS.
I own a Nikon D50 SLR camera – not easy to lug around. I have been interested in a point and shoot that would be easy to carry aroung, quick to pull out, and easy to take pics. I use a 1G memory card in my SLR and that gives me about 400 pics — this Coolpix S220 has a 2G memory card, zoom, bigger view screen than my Nikon D50 SLR, and all around easy to use. My SLR has a wide angle lens but the zoom ability with this Coolpix helps it to take great pics. So far I am not disappointed — I got it as a present from my Company’s Christmas Party so I have not had it very long but I am having fun experiencing using this cute camera!
I returned this after taking a few test shots and comparing them to the ones from my ancient Canon. The pictures from this Nikon were soft and blurry and just not good, even with file sizes four times the ones from the Canon of the same subject.
la camara es de 10 mega pixel pero al momento de aumentar el tamaño de la foto la calidad es pesima. no estoy totalmente satisfecho
when I saw this item, S230; I thought it was like S225 but with touchscreen. It turned out to be similar to S220, which is together with this one a waste of money. Pictures taken are usually blur, or have lots of back-light dots. Auto mode is really crappy :S:S:S totally dissatisfied with it. Thought for being a Nikon it’d have been a better product. Couldn’t be more wrong. For less price I can get a Casio that does much better with less money. So.. no…. it’s not good.
I bought this camera because our old GE was lost on our last trip. I saw the ad for it, and thought the touch screen was pretty cool! I am taking it back as SOON as the Christmas mall rush is over. It is small, which is good for some, and bad for others. It was ok at first, but it is just too small to hold on to to take the picture. That is MINOR and I could live with it. The thing I can’t is the blurry pictures! My old camera, a GE A730 took the best pictures! My kids could be running and if I took the picture, it was clear as a bell. With this camera, every picture I took of my child opening a present was blurry. If there is ANY movement at all, it is blurry. I read all the reviews about changing the ISO, or using the correct setting for the picture you are taking, but nothing helped. I even used the sport setting, figuring of COURSE that would be a setting that could compensate for motion, and it did a LITTLE better, but not much. With 4 active kids, there is no way this camera will work for me! Again, all the research I did about reading the manual, or changing the setting didn’t work at all! I am on the computer right now trying to find my old GE A730 to buy again….now THAT is a great camera!
I bought this camera for my wife, she has a Fuji 7000 and a Kodak Digital sorry I don’t remember the model it’s a good camera but a few years old. Anyway she and I are “Seniors” 65+ She has difficultly with complex menus. Out of the box she was taking good pictures, and enjoying all the (well some) of the features . Now she is reading the manual. Her comment last night was “I’ll never use all the things this camera has.” So, bottom line, great gift she likes it and is using it over her more expensive Fuji .
I have a Nikon Coolpix 8700, which is an excellent camera. I am a photography enthusiast I had one of my photos (taken with the 8700) selected by a TV station and have had a few selected for publishing in a local pamphlet. After my wife’s experience and my using her S230 I’ve ordered one for myself. Besides it’s a Nikon.
This camera stinks, aweful pics. Also its hard to hold on to. Sucks, buy a canon.
