This camera is everything that I thought it would be. However, due to the price if your going to buy this camera you had better be serious about photography. I would take the D90 over the D5000 any day, because of the D90 functions. If you buy from Amazon, I recomend Cameta Camera. My stuff arrived on time with nothing missing from the kit, all in brand new condition.
Nikon D700 features an FX-format first introduced with the Nikon D3. Highly praised for its outstanding features, the D3 established a new level of professional performance in terms of overall image quality, extraordinarily low noise, ISO sensitivity range, continuous high-speed shooting, color gradation, image crispness, durability, weather-resistant operation, system versatility and more
1 Nikon D700 DSLR Camera
1 EN-EL3e Battery Pack
1 MH-18a Battery Charger
1 UC-E4 Data Cable (USB)
1 EG-D100 AV Cable
1 AN-D700 Strap
1 CD-ROM
1 LCD Protect Cover
For a person who cannot afford Nikon D3, the new Nikon D700 seems to be a piece of gospel because it is just like a D3 fitting into the body of D300, with a price slightly more affordable. It seems a very good deal, isn’t it?
Nikon’s D700’s package includes a Battery Pack, a Battery Charger, a Data Cable (USB), a Cable, a Strap, CD-ROM and an LCD Protect Cover.
The design of the D700 is more or less the same with D300, but D700’s exterior cover, rear body and mirror box are built with magnesium alloy to reduce its weight and give it rugged durability. So although D700 is packed with the functions of D3, it is only a little heavier than D300. It is easy to hold, with a carefully made ergonomic grip.
The turn dial is especially welcomed - simply press a button with your Nikon D300 12.3MP Camera left thumb and scroll with your right to get the settings just right.
The CMOS 12.1 mega-pixel FX-format and the sensor‘s sensing area is 36 x 23.9 mm with sensitivity from ISO 200 to ISO 6400. It can even be pushed to HI –2 (ISO 25,600) and its noise is just as much as that of ISO 6400. Remarkable!
D700 supports only Type I CF, whereas D300 accepts both Type I and II, it is not really a huge setback though. Its battery lasts approximately 1000 shots which is pretty satisfying.
D700 complies with HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) that allows you to connect to HD TV. You can also find the video output, USB plug-in and DC plug-in in this slot.
The fact that it is made in Japan ensures the product is in high quality.
The SB-900 flashgun’s Multi-step auto zoom covers wide 17-200mm zoom range. Together with the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED lens, it completes the performance of D700.
The LCD monitor is the same as D3’s 3-in., approx. 920,000-dot (VGA), 170-degree wide-viewing-angle, 100% frame coverage, low-temperature polysilicon TFT LCD with brightness adjustment. It definitely allows a better composition of the picture than its D300 counterpart.
Users have to make two shots to get the picture they want. The first shot is a test shot for focusing and the resulted picture is blurred. The second shot would be the focused one.
D700’s O-ring sealing also renders a better protection against dust and moisture than the square piece of D300. The biggest and most endearing changes is that Electronic Virtual Horizon can now be shown on Live View display, users do not have to especially enter the menu to access it. It makes taking a leveled picture even more convenient D700 has inherited most of the superior performance of D3 except D700’s Viewfinder provides merely 95% of frame coverage instead of 100%, but it would not make a really big difference. The speed of continuous high-speed shooting for D700 is 5fps, if it is upgraded with a MB-D10 handle. The Scene Recognition System allows very accurate auto exposure, auto white balance and auto focus. The FX 51-point AF can detect subject with lens aperture as small as f/5.6. The 3-D tracking enables focus to swift seamlessly to track moving subject. Not only does the Picture Control System allow advanced shooters to adjust their own image parameters, but also provides novice with four customized settings (Standard, Vivid, Monochrome and Neutral) to let beginners pick up easily. Seeing the price of Nikon D700, we are still not sure if the age of cheapen full coverage DSLR camera has come yet, but if you cannot wait till the next generation of Canon EOS 5D to come, Nikon 700 can also be a choice.
Help answer the question about Nikon D300 12.3MP Camera
Nikon d300 SLR camera help!
Ok... I'm going to buy the Nikon D300 DX 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom Lens I'm also going to get a case, a tripod and a flash because they're important to have. Now I need help regarding filters, Nikon D300 12.3MP Camera polarizers and certain lenses. I definitely want to get a good UV filter and colored filters which I can use when taking pictures of the sky or beach. I'd like to get a micro, macro, telephoto, and panoramic lens. But would I need these 4 lenses considering that the camera comes with a 18-200mm lens?? Is telephoto the same as panoramic?? Isn't panoramic the kind where the picture is really elongated? and if it turns out that I can buy these 4 lenses.....what should I type in the search bar if I buy them from amazon.com?Thank you!!!

d300 is a state of the art camera and amazon delivered in two days at the best price ,100%recomendable
The camera has lived up to the professional reviews that I read during my research. The high ISO performance has been outstanding. My main use so far has been fast action sports (volleyball) inside low light gyms where flashes are not permitted and I have gotten very nice action shots. For those who never venture off the automatic setting of their current camera, I would not recommend this camera since it does not even have one. There is a learning curve, but it is well worth the effort.
very happy with amazon it arrive on the promise date and well packed, since I got back from a trip I had it for two weeks and very please with it take great shots outdoor as well as indoor thanks Buy Accessories you need to show your web page so we can recommend it to our friends
D300 is my first dslr and I am so happy with that. I bought it with the 10-135mm lens and it is perfect for everyday shooting. My last camera was Coolpix 8800 and I am not going to compare it with d300. If you are planning to buy your first DSLR, D300 is the best.
Excellent camera, for professionals and hobby photographers. I had the Nikon F301 for the last 20 years, and expect that the D300 will bring me as much pleasure for the next 20 years…
This camera is everything that I thought it would be. However, due to the price if your going to buy this camera you had better be serious about photography. I would take the D90 over the D5000 any day, because of the D90 functions. If you buy from Amazon, I recomend Cameta Camera. The camera is almost of professional quality and I can only recommend it to anyone who likes to take photos on high resolution. The camera is easy to handle and has all options anybody can dream of.
This is an excellent camera, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the package that is being offered here, but there is a “devil in the details” of this two lens package that could trip you up if you are not careful.
If you are going to buy a high-power zoom lens like a 70-300mm, having image stabilization built into that lens is pretty critical. At the high magnification factors, any little shake or movement is going to be very difficult to overcome, no matter how steady you are. The D90 itself has image stabilization built in, but the D90 image stabilization alone is not going to be enough to overcome vibration on a handheld camera with a 300mm zoom.
You will note that the standard 18 – 105mm lens in this package is from Nikon’s (Nikkor) VR line, and by definition the VR line has the built-in electronic image stabilization. But the 70 – 300mm lens — the one that REALLY could benefit from image stabilization — is not a “VR” lens and does NOT have built-in image stabilization — I just called the vendor and they readily confirmed that this is the case, and they further commented that a package including a 70-300mm VR lens would add “$400 to $450 to the package price”.
Again, there is nothing wrong with this camera package, and this is an excellent vendor. Just be sure you go into the purchase knowing what you are getting.
This package has everything you need to take great pictures in a variety of settings. It’s not just a ’starter’ pack.
I added a tripod and mono-pod and plan on getting a flash.
Every thing else I needed was included in the package.
The 18-105mm is my default for indoor, group, and closeup shots. It has a very flexible range from wide angle to ‘5x’ zoom.
The 300mm is great for sporting events or long shots (over 20 feet). It really pull the subject in close.
PROS: The pictures are excellent! The D90 is great with portraits, action shots, and good at video. How many video cameras have a 300mm zoom? I took over 2,500 pictures during a two night play and got some great shots with the 300mm on a monopod. The 4.5 frames/second burst mode really helps when people are moving around. The 8GB card will hold over 2,000 shots. I can shoot all day with one battery, but it’s always best to have a spare.
CONS: The 300mm lens is not a VR (vibration Reduction) lens, which helps stabilize the image. In video mode, the image is only displayed on the LCD screen. In full sunlight that can be a problem due to glare on the screen. It doesn’t always keep it’s focus in video mode either. But your buying it for the still pictures.
Everything will fit in the included camera bag with room for another lens.
