We like this camera cover. It fits perfectly on our camera, even though it’s a little weird–like a super-fancy ziplock thing. The only complaint, and this is minor, is that you need to make sure you keep the lens aligned with the zoom casing, or else you will get a little black around the edges of the photo. Just make sure it’s not in the zoom finder, and it will be fine!

When shopping for a camera to replace my Sony Mavica CD camera, my friend suggested the DSC P200. When I first saw it I was not too impressed. Oh, no, I thought, not some cheap ‘point and shoot’. My friend knew that I did some serious photograpy, actually pursuing a commercial art course at a local community college. I had used his Nikon D-70 professional digital SLR for classes, but knew that a good SLR was way out of my price range. Since I have a lot of respect for my friend, who produces claymation movies, I decided to give the camera a try. WOW! This is one outstanding camera. Amazingly, it manages to incorporate most of the features of a much more expensive camera, into a size that actually qualifies as a ’shirt pocket’ camera. With 7.1 mp, and a 3x Carl Zeiss zoom lens, ( equal to a 38-114 mm 35mm lens) the camera is capable of producing an impressive image. It has all the functions of an SLR, such as full auto, program and manual modes. It also has 6 image sizes, including 640×480 for email and webpage. Okay, I could go on and on, and don’t get me started on how great the video is. Just accept that I use it to make videos that I post on YouTube, and the images look as good as anything else. Alright, sometimes that’s not saying very much. Trust me though, when I say that for the price, this Sony camera can hold it’s own against a lot of much more expensive and even professional cameras. And, you can carry it anywhere. I even carry it around my house to catch those “Aw, look how cute the dog/cat is” shots. You know, the ones you always miss ‘looking for the camera’! Yeah, I gotta admit-I do love it!

I am stationed in iraq right now and my local iraqi interpreter who does not have the luxury to a bank account or debit or credit cards wanted me to order this off the internet for him. He was completely convinced that this is the best digital camera in the world, he said he has done the research and he has already one before this, and there is no better digital camera out there, haha. Sure enough i got it in the mail and took a look at it and it seemed very very nice. I would highly recommend it and so would my interpreter Jabbar.

I lost my charger on a trip and had to buy this one. First of all, it was smaller than my original charger AND it came with an adapter for the car as well!! I love this product. The only thing is that there is this button on it, and I don’t know what it does. No where in the packaging was there an explaination of the button. It’s a mystery.

I’ve had this camera for over five years now and it still runs great, and the battery life seems to be like new. I use it all the time and have noticed that even when the screen doesn’t show something small, when taking photos in seven mega pixels you can zoom in on the photo to see object clearly. The tough metal casing has also proved itself many times too. I like to go on fishing trips and I also go on long trips riding a dual sport dirt bike off the road and have fallen on the camera, but it has no dents, scratches or anything noticeable at all. The only thing I would add to this camera is waterproofing, just to feel safer on the boat and in the rain. It’s very easy to switch the photo quality to allow more photos to be taken or allow the photos to be sent online faster. It sends all photos online, but quality just takes anther couple seconds per photo. I also really like the rechargeable battery, once charged it goes for hundreds of photos. It also uses the standard Memory Stick PRO, so it doesn’t need any little adapters to be used in card readers. We have a newer Sony which has the smaller card and it seems to be a little more of a hassle to always be using the adapter when going through photos on the computer. I’m very satisfied with the cost and performance of this product.

The seller was very easy to deal with. We had a Sony Cybershot which took great pics and it wouldn’t work anymore. We paid almost $300. for it. Got this used one for $130 and it’s just like the one we had. Have been taking great pics since we got it. Thanks, Nancy

I’ve had this camera since December 2005 as a christmas present. I have used it when I go traveling, partying, and hiking. I have used and abused this camera since I got it and it still works.

What I like about this camera is it is handy. It can take video clips. It takes amazing rich color photos and performs well on low light conditions. I think carl zeiss lens has something to do with this. I rarely run out of battery juice. Battery charging time is only an hour or two. I went caving and I got this camera wet. My fellow caver and I were surprised it survived. Turning the camera on/off is fast that it is unlikely you’ll miss a shot. The shutter speed is decent that the timing of taking moving subjects is not hard to get.

What I don’t like about this camera is the timing of the flash. The flash goes off before the shot. As a result, the picture is taken like as if there was no flash. (No, it was not on a flash delay mode). It takes really great pictures but because of this problem 1 out of 5 attempts comes out right when the flash is needed. It is embarassing to those subjects posing for you. You will lose great shots this way. Like other comments here, the lens curtain doesn’t fully shut. But it shuts completely when you play with it. It’s been like that even before the caving incindent but I didn’t mind it so much because it take great photos. Another thing I don’t like about this camera is the discontinued adapters. There are lenses you can attach to this camera like filters and polarized lenses; but it requires an adapter. Since sony stopped making the adapters, this lenses becomes useless.

After using the camera for more than 3 years and shooting more than 4000 photos, I must say I’m extremely satisfied that I purchased it. It is a different matter that I paid much more than what it sells for now.

It is quick (very short start-up time) and takes great photos. Battery life is excellent. The night modes can use some improvement – deducting one star for it. Other than that, I think it takes very sharp pictures – be it outdoors or indoors. One thing to keep in mind – you need to hold the camera very steady to avoid the blur. Trick is to hold the camera steady for an extra second after clicking – most people move it as soon as they click it. I don’t have a tripod but have been able to take some extremely good pictures – so say my friends :p

When I bought my first Camera I made sure to do my homework. I got the Sony P100. When it got stolen I replaced it with the P150 and eventually P200. I have used many other cameras though, since I do photography as a side job, and NONE compare to these 3 cameras. To begin with picture clarity is perfect in any mode. It also has many more available functions than the “more modern” cameras. Unless Sony starts making these again, I doubt I will buy their products anymore. The newer ones offer less functions and the picture quality doesn’t even compare.

I’m currently on the market for another one of these. I just decide if I prefer the P150 or P200.
